Food Safety Alert: Nestle recalls baby formula in 49 countries.

Nestle Global has recalled several baby formula brands in 49 countries due to potential toxic contamination of arachidonic acid (ARA) oil and corresponding oil mixes.

As a new parent or a caregiver this is concerning, but don’t worry, Nestle says there haven’t been any reported illnesses since they found the contamination. According to their press release, if you have bought these products which have the identified batch numbers and detect the following symptoms you should immediately dispose of them and contact your healthcare provider; persistent vomiting, diarrhea, or unusual lethargy, and these would typically appear between 30 minutes to 6 hours after any exposure. You can also reach out to your local Nestle office for a full refund of your purchase. If you’ve purchased any of these baby formula’s check the product packaging for the product batch number and relevant information as well as the local Nestlé / product brand webpage in their country to check if a product is impacted.

The baby formula’s affected are: SMA and Follow-On Formula.

If however, you’ve purchased any baby formula from any European or American goods store in Ghana, then please do the needful and double check the batch number.
