#VGMA2014 - Unseen Photos & The Candid Review.
So by now you have heard, seen and read what happened at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and what a bore it was. The Shatta movement fans are still celebrating over Shatta Wale's Artiste of the Year award (which I hope has been found by now) and Sonnie Badu is also in cloud nine for winning 2 awards Gospel Artiste of the Year and Best Male Vocal Performance of the Year.
This was my first Ghana Music Awards and for a holder of a VIP ticket I was mildly disappointed with the annual event. If not for the fact that I had a Red Room ticket which enabled me to rest my feet and nibble on some hors d'oeuvres, I would have left earlier than I actually did.
Organisation was bad, late and delayed. I stood outside at the main gates with other VIP guests as the place wasn't ready as told by a heavily armed police/soldier. After a 15minute wait we were finally allowed in and there was no VIP welcome. Surprise!! I kept my hopes up for the rest of the night.
Here are some photos you may have missed amongst the numerous already online and my candid view on the event.
JOEY B (New Artiste of The Year)
Deborah Vaness in socks and pointies (this is intriguing)
Gowns with neck plunging necklines were pretty much out there at the awards night whilst some kept the gowns as demure or spectacular as possible.
NAA OYOE QUARTEY - MISS MALAIKA '13
NAA ASHORKOR (red gown)
Mr Seyram.
Guests and fans to the event dressed to either the nines or just as outrageous as possible to the event and who was I to be surprised. The worst fashion moments on my previous post highlights reasons why Fashion Police must be brought to events like this. Why do some ladies go through discomfort and pain to wear platforms they have no business or skill in wearing? It was almost hilarious!
BUKOM BANKU
Pokello Nare with fans.
Uche Ofodile, CMO Vodafone Ghana.
Inside the RedRoom VIP, there wasn't much action going on but I got the opportunity to meet some executives from the sponsoring telco.
Stone Bwoy
Selfie Nation.
Jeremie.
Miss Vee
OJ
OJ picked his award for Best Gospel Song of the Year and put on a good performance later on in the show.
Joshua Clottey & Irene Logan
Castro
Castro and his crew picked up Best Highlife Song of the Year for Odo Pa.
mystery lady (Shatta's girl?) with Shatta Wale's award
So I hear this lady (pictured above) is Shatta Wale's girlfriend. True? Well she took the award so if anyone is looking for her, hope this photo helps. :) That was Shatta's Best Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year award.
SONNIE BADU - Gospel Artiste of the Year
What can I say about KOD coming out with this #selfie? Yawa! Bad and wrong move my guy. Here is a tip: Selfies are best when done outta the blue, take a look at the #OscarSelfie for example. Bam! Calling Joselyn Dumas (who looked surprised at her name being mentioned) and John Dumelo and co was so un-selfie of you and then asking the crowd to say 'TWEAA' was awful. I am so sure that wasn't the best selfie in Ghana as predicted.
The Misses Malaika's

Guru takes up the Hiplife Song of the Year award
CINDY THOMPSON
I was pretty surprised to see Cindy Thompson trending on Twitter on Monday morning. O_0 How was that even possible? It turns out people were trolling on her performance and appearance on the stage at the awards night. Whilst some tweeted that they were expecting offering to be up next, another tweeted about the event not being a revival. Trolls.
KWAD33
The look on this guy's face. Hmmm....
POKELLO NARE
IYANA
SONNIE BADU wins again!
Davido won the African Artiste of the Year.
ELIKEM PROPOSES TO POKELLO
So the famous proposal Elikem made to Pokello went slightly viral on social media. I couldn't help but wonder about the authenticity of the bended knee act. I mean look at her face in the photo! It looks like, 'Dude, WTF are you doing?' lol!
Sark.
The best performance went to Sarkodie. Hands down! This guy has some die-hard fans. I heard one guy shout from the back 'You be devil, herh! You be devil wai!' lol!
SARK
Sarkodie fans.
D-Black
I left after Sarkodie's performance because after that I knew nothing better was going to come up and I was tired of tweeting for Vodafone for free #VGMA2014. The Ghanaian audience as usual was luck lustre.
How VIP ticket holders were made to sit so far behind just beat my imagination. CharterHouse get your house in order.
