Released Within Less Than 24hrs, Sarkodie's Biibi Ba Video Is Already No.2 Trending on YouTube.

Within less than 24hours since he tweeted out the official music video of Biibi ba, Sarkodie and his rap-spitting army of 10 underground rappers are already trending at No.2 on YouTubeGh.

The video’s opening scene is that of Sarkodie standing unmoving yet rapping whilst surrounded by a chaotic melee of people grabbing money notes raining down on them from the sky. From the visuals, it’s obvious Sark represents the 1% well-to-Ghanaian who doesn’t take any action whilst poverty and disorder thrashes and strangles each other over ‘peanuts’ irrespective of who gets killed in the mad rush.

What makes Biibi Ba a must-watch video is the featuring of the 10 underground MC’s - LJ, Tulenkey, Frequency, K. Mole, ToyBoi, Yeyo, Amerado, 2Fyngers, OBkay and CJ- who act as young men in the hustle and grind of Accra life and the decisions they take in order to make that money.

Some choose sakawa whilst other visit the water goddess for money blessings whilst another would rather work in the grime and smoke of sodom and Gomorrah to make ends meet. This is the reality of many unemployed youth in Ghana and a story which has been richly told in the 7:38 long video.

The track has also received 5,539 streams on Spotify since its release on December 10th. Listen here:

Directed by Babs Direction, the gritty, reality-touching and no-booty shaking video 💫 focuses on the raw energy of the MC who have their own incrediawesome style of delivery and sick lines such as “ Opportunity go knock as3 wone no ay3 zanzama” by Frequency and “ Money can't buy life but hospital is not free.” ⚡️💥💥

However, one has to ask the question, some may be thinking but aren’t saying, ‘where are the underground female rappers?’

Sarkodie’s fans have lit up Twitter with their own take on the video.

Frequency and Tulenkey is poised to be everyone’s favourite dopest rappers in the video! What say you? Is Sarkodie’s Biibi Ba video poised to win Video of the Year at next years’s Ghana Music Award’s?
