Soft & Savoury Minced Beef Bread Rolls Recipe | Flavourful Snack Idea.
Say hello to the ultimate comfort food: a golden, perfectly baked bread roll bursting with savory, seasoned meat that melts in your mouth with each bite.
Honestly, I thank God I was one of the millions of people who started baking during the COVID lockdown back in 2019. What a time that was! We all had more time on our hands to knead, watch the rise of the dough, inhale and taste the victory of a perfectly baked bread. But now we are taking our bread baking to another level and you should too with this soft and savoury meat filled bread roll! I had leftover minced meat sauce and adding it to this bread roll was a gamechanger! Your picky children will also love it as you can ‘hide’ vegetables in the meat sauce bfore filling it in the dough. You can similarly use corned beef stew, chicken sauce or for a vegetarian take mushrooms and tofu sauce. Ideally this sauce must have less liquid and more meat to prevent leakages.
For a basic bread dough recipe, use my recipe here. I used this simple but delicious minced beef recipe which i stuffed into koose recently. It is such a versatile minced beef recipe. Use that as your filling, ensuring the liquid evaporates leaving behind a thick sauce.
Once the dough rises, let out the air with a few punches and roll out into a log shape. Next you’ll split the dough into small sized rolls about 2 inches wide or less width for smaller rolls. This should give you about 8 portions in total.
3. Roll out each mini dough using a rolling pin into an elongated shape with pointy ends.
4. Next you want to spread one spoonful of minced meat onto the surface from one end to the other.
5. Fold one long end towards the center and do same for the other end to slightly overlap the other other fold. Then starting from the end facing you, start rolling forward towards the last pointy end. Tuck the end in to seal. Do same for all the rolls.
6. Place rolls on a lightly greased baking tray, cover and set aside for a second rise for 20 minutes.
7. Pre-heat oven at 180°C for 2 minutes.
8. Brush egg wash (1egg+1 tbsp water) onto the surface of each roll after the rise to give a golden colour after baking.
9. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter, chop parsley and mix this into the butter for extra flavour and color. Set aside.
10. Bake bread for 15-20 minutes till beautifully golden. Brush the melted butter parsley mix onto the bread immediately for extra softness.
These meaty rolls will make you forget about your worries, wash them down with a cold drink or hot cup of tea. Personally I’d go with a chilled bottle of Malta Guiness 😆. Believe me when I say your children will love these in their lunchboxes!
Each bite delivers a satisfying blend of flavourful tender minced beef filling wrapped in a soft, warm crust, making this beef-stuffed bread roll an irresistible treat for any time of day. ❤️
